As one of the oldest and most widely used forms of healing on the planet Herbal Medicine supports the body’s natural state of dynamic balance and facilitates a natural return to health and well being through nature. Herbs can alleviate pain, protect organs from damage or change the course of an illness.
In many areas of the world Herbal Medicine is still the primary form of health care. These indigenous cultures have well developed healing systems and traditions and a complex pharmacopea. Plants are truly the roots of modern medicine, and even today they are valuable allies in our quest for health and healing. What once seemed magical is now understood to be the action of thousands of compounds in a single plant (or food) working together with our own body and mind to perform an act of healing.
what can i expect from our meeting?
I practice an 'Wholistic' approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Beyond alleviating symptoms, I work to find and treat the root causes of any distress while honoring you, the whole patient.
Consultations are relaxed and mostly conversational. We will get a full picture of your health history to be able to recommend the most appropriate herbal formulas, lifestyle suggestions, nutritional information, and emotional support to guide you through your healing process. Pulse, face and tongue diagnosis are employed to give us a deeper picture of the body’s process.
Dependent on the individual, most courses of treatment last from 3-6 months of once monthly appointments. Like all things, your need for herbs and supplements will change as you heal, lessening and developing into sustainable ways of living. It is not a static perfection that we are after, but ever consciously changing shifts, sometimes overt, sometimes subtle, that bring us closer to balanced wellness.
The understanding and acceptance of this coupled with a deeper knowledge and awareness of your body and the roots of your former dis-ease, are the keys to lasting health and the true gift of Holistic Herbal Medicine.
